YJ Fischer

Biography

Ms. Fischer is the Senior Director for Global Partnerships at Bird. She works on international policy to shape the company’s global market entry strategy. Ms. Fischer has more than a decade of experience crafting policy across state, federal, and international governments. She is a seasoned lawyer and expert in global public policy, with deep experience in Europe and the Middle East. Prior to joining Bird, Ms. Fischer was the Head of International Business Development at Virgin Hyperloop One, where she was responsible for company’s go-to-market strategy in 15 markets across 4 continents. Before that she held several appointments during the Obama Administration. She was appointed as the assistant coordinator for implementation of the Iran nuclear agreement, leading negotiations on sensitive diplomatic and political issues related to the agreement and structuring complex multi-million dollar transactions. She also served as a senior advisor and chief of staff at the U.S. Department of State. During her tenure, she worked closely with European, Asian, and Middle Eastern corporations on sanctions policy and with the IMF and World Bank to promote fiscally-responsible economic policies in the Middle East. Ms. Fischer co-wrote the Democratic Party’s platform in 2016 and served as a Deputy Director on the Clinton-Kaine Campaign’s Transition Preparation Team. Ms. Fischer serves on the board of Aerial Futures, an organization dedicated to thinking about the future of airports. She writes and speaks regularly about foreign policy issues and her commentary has appeared in the Financial Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, CNN, and Fox News. She has a B.A. from Barnard College and a J.D. from Columbia University.
