Sandy Lucy

Washington, Missouri

Sandy Lucy’s passion for her hometown of Washington, Missouri didn’t just happen overnight.   Prior to being elected Mayor in 2010 she had worn many hats in her community.  She is a past president of Downtown Washington, Inc. and has served on most all of the Main Street committees.  Sandy is also a past president of the Washington Area Chamber of Commerce and an original member of the Washington Tourism Committee.

As Mayor, Sandy appointed a citizens committee to participate in updating the city’s Comprehensive Plan.  This plan set goals and strategies for development and re-development throughout the city.  As past chairman of Washington’s Preservation Commission she has long supported plans for re-development in historic districts.

Sandy is married to Gary Lucy and together they own and operate Gary R. Lucy Gallery located in Historic Downtown Washington.  Gary’s successful career as a professional fine artist has allowed them to expand their business and become a popular attraction in Downtown.  They own four properties in the historic district and their enthusiasm has led them to not only work in Downtown but to live there as well.  The Lucys became residents in 2000 after they designed and renovated the second floor of a property adjoining the gallery.
