Developmental Psychologist and Director of the Cuyahoga County
Office of Early Childhood
Rebekah L. Dorman, PhD, is a developmental psychologist and Director of the Cuyahoga County (Cleveland Metro area) Office of Early Childhood where she oversees an early childhood service continuum prenatal-kindergarten with an annual budget of $18 million. She also leads Invest in Children, the local public/private partnership and its award-winning Universal Pre K program. A chapter she co-authored on the UPK program appears in the recently published book, Early Childhood Education in the United States: Contemporary and Critical Perspectives. Dr. Dorman is an appointed member of Ohio’s Early Childhood Advisory Council, advising the Governor’s Office on policy and programs statewide. She has authored numerous articles and two books: Preventing Burnout in Your Staff and Yourself: A Survival Manual for Human Services Supervisors and Planning, Funding and Implementing A Child Abuse Prevention Project. Dr. Dorman graduated degree Cum Laude from Brandeis University and received her doctorate from Cornell University.
