Matthew Appelbaum

Boulder, Colorado

Matthew Appelbaum has served on the City Council of Boulder, Colorado for a total of 18 years, including five as the city’s mayor.  He currently serves on the Board of the National League of Cities, and was the chair and long-time member of NLCs EENR policy committee.  He is also on the Board of Directors of ICLEI-USA, an international organization of sustainable cities, and is a member of ICLEI’s North America Regional Executive Committee.  Boulder is well-known for its aggressive and innovative efforts toward creating and preserving affordable housing, which have been a priority of Matt’s for over three decades.
