City Renewable Energy Manager
World Resources Institute
Lacey is the City Renewable Energy Manager within the World Resources Institute’s global energy program. In this role, she is expanding WRI’s work with corporate buyers and utilities on innovative renewable energy procurement and decarbonization efforts into U.S. cities. She organizes and supports cohorts of cities working on similar purchasing strategies, develops tools and guidance documents, organizes trainings, and supports peer-learning events to help cities secure renewable energy to decarbonize their electricity supply.
Prior to WRI, Lacey managed education and marketing efforts for the LEED for Cities and Communities program at the U.S. Green Building Council. She was also part of the start-up team that launched the STAR Community Rating System, the first U.S. framework and certification program for local governments to track community-wide sustainability. At STAR Communities, she provided one-on-one consulting and assistance to over 80 U.S. cities and counties as they benchmarked sustainability performance and worked towards data-driven performance management. Lacey has also conducted analyses of climate and hazard mitigation planning efforts at The Nature Conservancy; developed data management strategies for community organizing, fundraising, and marketing at Greenpeace; and performed spatial analysis of land use and energy reliance for the Foundation for Environmental Security and Sustainability.
