Interim Fleet Manager, Bureau of Maintenance & Internal Services
Joseph is a graduate from Chabot College where he completed his Apprenticeship in the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers California Apprenticeship Council, and has worked for the City of Oakland for 19 years. Joseph has over 27 years of logistics, maintenance and operations experience working in both public and private sectors.
Joseph started his career as an Automobile Technician, where he received ASE Master Certifications and a State of California Smog Check License. He is now a National Association of Fleet Administrators (NAFA) Certified Automotive Fleet Manager and American Public Works Association (APWA) Certified Public Fleet Professional. Joseph has been recognized for many outstanding achievements over the years. In 2018, Joseph was selected as the City of Oakland’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Operations Employee of the Year, and named APWA Northern California’s Fleet Manager of the Year in 2014. In addition to his personal awards, Joseph’s organization is ranked 15th for ‘Greenest Fleets’ in the nation for 2018 and received the Clean Air Champion Award from the East Bay Clean Cities Coalition in 2017.
