Fred Dock


Department of Transportation, Pasadena, CA


Mr. Dock is a traffic engineer and transportation planner with 40 years of experience in urban transportation systems. He currently directs the Department of Transportation for the City of Pasadena, California where he is responsible for a staff of 50 that plans and operates the City’s transportation system. In his position, he provides direction for both long and short range planning and day-to-day operations for the city’s transit, pedestrian, bicycle, traffic and parking systems.

He attained Bachelor and Masters Degrees in Civil Engineering at the University of California Berkeley, is registered as a Professional Engineer, is certified as a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and a Fellow of the Institute of Transportation Engineers.

Mr. Dock is an active member of the Transportation Research Board’s ABE30 Transportation Issues in Major Cities Committee and serves on the Executive Committee of the Transportation Systems Management and Operations Council of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. He is a member of the California Planning Roundtable.
