Ann Macfarlane believes that city council meetings must be orderly to be effective. Unruly or chaotic meetings are frustrating for elected officials and result in poor outcomes for their cities. Ann brings her experience as a former diplomat with the U.S. Department of State and a professional parliamentarian to create entertaining and enjoyable workshop experiences. Robert’s Rules of Order can be fun! Attendees will gain the skills to run effective, fair and fully democratic meetings, make better decisions, and serve their community better.
Ann is a former diplomat and Russian translator who served as president of the American Translators Association. Since developing Jurassic Parliament in 2000, Ann has trained over 10,000 people across the U.S. With Andrew Estep she is the author of Mastering Council Meetings: A guidebook for elected officials and local governments.
