Synopsis

In order to serve the needs of a growing region, the San Antonio Water System (SAWS), San Antonio’s water utility, takes continuous steps to diversify and expand their water supply operations to ensure San Antonio’s water security into the future. The tour will visit SAWS’s H2Oaks water facility which is home to three different sources of water including their newest, groundwater desalination. Learn about the process of turning brackish groundwater into highly treated drinking water as well as SAWS process of diversifying their water portfolio to reduce reliance on the prolific but regulated Edwards Aquifer. Travel time is 20 minutes and the tour will require walking.
