Synopsis

Productive partnering between cities and higher education institutions can be mutually beneficial to both partners, especially in tough economic times. But even communities without colleges and universities within city boundaries, city leaders can productively partner with local school districts, counties, and state entities. Come to explore the whys and hows of productive partnering, with an emphasis on viewing partnerships from a lifecycle perspective and the role was written agreements play in providing continuity throughout that cycle. Real life examples of ordinances, contracts, and other municipal partnership agreements from the City of Ames, IA— home of Iowa State University, will be available online as models for other communities.
