Synopsis

The Boston Citywide Analytics Team was established in 2015 as a part of Mayor Marty Walsh’s vision for a data-driven city. Fast forward to 2019, and the city has a centralized data platform that helps to automate complex data pipelines and guides decision making, allowing them to now focus on not just understanding the city, but predicting and addressing potential issues ahead of time, overall improving city services. This session will focus on the team’s journey over the last four years, including lessons learned, goals for the future, and other relevant takeaways for other cities looking to become more data-driven.
