Synopsis

San Antonio, Texas takes bold and innovate approaches in education through leveraging partnerships, employing creative ideas, and thinking strategically.  Learn about the thought processes and partnerships San Antonio undertook to ignite new passions about the importance of prekindergarten in overall education levels and the role of public libraries in communities.  San Antonio Public Library’s 29th location, the Potranco Branch Library, is co-located in a repurposed building within a YMCA featuring the latest in self-service technology.  San Antonio’s high quality full-day prekindergarten program, Pre-K 4 SA, launched in the fall of 2013 and today operates four full-day Prekindergarten schools that serve 500 students each and awarded $4.2 million in competitive grants to public school districts, private schools, and childcare development centers. Travel time to the site is 20 minutes from the Convention Center.
