Kiran Bawa

Director of Finance

Kiran has over two decades of private and public sector experience, including fifteen years of financial management and policy development with a focus on operating and capital budgets, financial forecasts and streamlining financial processes. Serving as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Falls Church in the Washington DC metropolitan area, Kiran is responsible for the City’s finances, including real estate assessments, purchasing payroll, accounting, and operating and capital budgets for the CIty and the Falls Church City Public Schools.

Prior to that, as the Budget Director of the City of Oakland, the fourth most diverse city in America, Kiran assisted the Mayor and City Council in developing a strategically balanced biennial budget totaling $2.4 billion that meets the community’s highest priorities. She worked with various stakeholders including the budget advisory committee, labor unions and other external advocacy groups on improving transparency and public engagement in the budget development process.

Kiran holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with honors from Mills College and has earned numerous certifications and affiliations throughout her career including Leadership Oakland and the ENO Executive Transit Management Program.
