NLCU: Strengthening Your Systems for Engagement

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
November 16, 2017

Looking for guidance on how to organize – and sustain – productive public engagement? Struggling to decide how to use both online and face-to-face processes? Frustrated with the standard “3 minutes at the microphone” public meeting? This NLC University session offers answers from Public Agenda, a leading national nonprofit with 40 years of experience in supporting public engagement on a wide variety of issues. The session will also draw on Public Agenda’s research on Participatory Budgeting, one of the fastest-growing forms of engagement. Led by Matt Leighninger, formerly the lead consultant to NLC’s Democratic Governance Panel, the session will describe the latest tools and formats in the field, help you assess the strengths and weaknesses of your public engagement initiatives, and help you plan for a stronger engagement system in your community.
